mega poppy flowers
In february 2022, I was interning at POPPYKALAS (Thilde Maria Haukohl Kristensen) while she was creating scenography and costumes for Den Hemmelige Have in Glyptoteket in collaboration with MYKA.
Thilde had discovered a fashion image of an over dimensioned poppy flower and wanted me to create similar ones for the performance at Glyptoteket.
Later she commissioned me to make more of the same flowers for MAGASIN DU NORD where they were exhibited in the windows and at the entrance of the shopping mall.
During my process to create these flowers I forst tried to harden the fabric with the mixture used for making small silk fabric flowers, which failed. Then I used the wire to go along the leaves to keep them standing, that didn’t work either. In the end I got to the method of putting wire in the edges of the leaves and setting them up in the same was as when you work with real flowers making a bouquet.
